Welcome to Spasticville, KS

Yes folks, that's right. Spasticville. Only 46 miles south east of McPherson. Spasticville is an area in Valley Center. It was named after a house that used to be a home for mentally disabled people. Inappropriate, you say? Absolutely!
I learned of Spasticville on the local news this evening. They shared a few other fun names of towns in the U.S. of A. With a little research, I found a few more. Here's a top 10 list of some of my faves! Enjoy!

10.Oatmeal, TX
9. Monkey's Eyebrow, KY
8. Looneyville, WV
7. Boring, OR
6. Hellhole, ID
5. Lick Skillet, VA
4. Buttzville, NJ
3. Bird in Hand, PA
2. Beans, NH
Tied for #1: Crapo, MD & Pee Pee, OH

I heard on Paul Harvey that Spasticville is petitioning to change its name to Trails End. (I googled Spasticville and that's how I came to your blog (:o] ) Another choice MD town (not petitioning for a name change) is Assawoman. A beautiful house there was on the Eastern Shore House & Garden Tour last year. I've also driven through Scaggsville, MD and Weed, OR.
Whee! (I love Oatmeal-- I'd live there!)

Does anyone know more recent information about this? It's 2016. If people can ban the Confederate Flag because they think it is offensive, how about doing something about an area that still shows up on the map called "Spasticville?" Surely if nobody wants that name anymore it could be changed. There is absolutely nothing left there anyway.

This is the information for the renaming of the Slough. However the name has never been removed from the maps. If you post near this area, it will say you are from Spasticville.

B. DISCUSSION: RENAME SPASTICVILLE SLOUGH

Vince Marshall, Valley Center Cultural and Historical Society, presented a brief history of the region in order to assist the Council with the renaming of the Spasticville Slough. Alternate names suggested were: Mead’s or Meads View, Trails View or Trails Way, Parallel Hill, and Poppsville or Popp Acres.

Gerling moved, second by Cicirello, to submit the name of Trails View Slough as an alternative to Spasticville Slough. Vote yea: unanimous. Motion carried.

McNown thanked Gerling for working with the Historical Society to find a more appropriate name for the slough.
